Surrey Choices Spotlights
Spotlights are an inclusive, disability performing arts group, whose members have a range of physical and learning disabilities. They meet every Friday at the Egham Literary Institute to learn various disciplines from song and dance, acting, playing instruments, but most of all having fun and expanding on their confidence and abilities.
Our performances are fully inclusive with sign language pieces and using interactive technologies such as electronic musical instrument apps and speech buttons to support non-verbal participants.
Over their first year as a group, we performed for two Mayors of Runnymede, and the local MP. In December 2023, we sang at a showcase event at the Lit to mark our first year, which was well received with no empty seats in the theatre! We performed a range of songs including Shallow, Mamma Mia and a comedy sketch about Henry VII and his wives. Recently, we performed ‘Olivier Awards’ in front of the current Mayor of Runnymede.
